Shirebrook and Langwith Junction Public Space Protection Order 2019

Bolsover District Council is reviewing the need for a Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) in Shirebrook. We are therefore consulting all community representatives/ interested parties. A PSPO is a provision, created by the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014, which is intended to deal with persistent and unreasonable conduct by individuals in a public place which is detrimental to the local community’s quality of life. The aim is to stop individuals or groups committing anti-social behaviour in public spaces. They are designed to ensure the law-abiding majority can use and enjoy public spaces, safe from anti-social behaviour. Enforcement can be undertaken by council officers, police officers and PCSOs. In 2015 the Council made a PSPO which was successful in tackling anti-social behaviour in Shirebrook. We have worked with the Police and believe that there is a need for the order to be reviewed. Based on the latest reports of anti-social behaviour relating to vehicles in the Market Place, the proposed order will introduce new prohibitions, as well as removing those which are no longer needed. The proposal is that there will be a new Order which will introduce restrictions for the use of a defined areas and the Shirebrook Market Place.
