We are asking people for their views on the licensing of sex shops, sex cinemas and sexual entertainment venues across the District.

North East Derbyshire District Council is considering adopting Schedule 3 to the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1982 (as amended by section 27 of the Policing and Crime Act 2009) so that we can licence sex establishments in the District. There are currently no such premises within the District, but should the Council adopt the legislation it would allow them to regulate those premises.

The policy (see link below) will act as a guide to applicants, decision makers and other interested parties and will ensure consistent application of the legislation.

Before the full Council considers adopting the legislation, it is seeking views on, firstly, whether residents and other stakeholders agree that this course should be taken and secondly, what their views are on the contents of the draft policy.
